I am no expert, but here is one idea - According to Jung - dreams are important messages from our subconscious & the imagery they contain are often aspects of our own personality or psyche. Your boss in the dream could represent the male side to your character, as we all have male & female aspects to our being. A part of you which you admire, a strength, a beauty, a part of yourself which is connected to the male aspect of yourself. The death of your boss could indicate a sudden change in this aspect of your personality, or a potential sudden change in the future to a male aspect of your psyche, or a part of you which is under threat. Meeting your boss again while you are in a comfortable place & chatting, would indicate that this "change" could lead to a healthier & more rounded relationship with this part of your personality or a more integrated sense of self. In the Jungian sense, that for growth to take place, often there is a "death" of an aspect of being, after which there is reintegration & a re-evaluation.

On a more literal level the dream could also be telling you something about your fears, worries & a more direct "message". Perhaps the dream is relating to a concern about the lack of, or need to find, a life partner or long term relationship (I am unaware of your situation). The dream could be prompting the action to communicate your true feelings to your boss? or to speak openly with the people in your life, your partner or potential partner, from a position of faith & confidence, to be confident (safe) talking openly with people in your life, & warning that not to do so could lead to the loss of relationship(s) or a potential relationship.

On the most literal level the dream could be a "message" to talk with your boss about how you feel, or just to speak with him openly while you have the opportunity. Or a person who represents your boss in the dream. The dream could also be an expression or a release of a "loss" experienced in the past & your desire for communication, or a relationship in a safe environment, without the pressure of sex. A relationship in which the emphasis is on the companionship aspect of the relationship than rather on the basis of a sexual relationship, a reflection of the changing motivation & needs within a relationship.

Just my thoughts, but it could all be wrong. The best way of finding a meaning to the dream which rings true for yourself is to go very much with your own intuition.

I do think that dreams can be messages from, or attempts of our deep subconscious to communicate truths to our conscious minds. The imagery, symbolism & elements of the dream then become deeply personal to the individual dreamer. There is no universal set meaning. The dreams will use the individuals meanings of the symbology to impart a message or meaning. By exploring the elements of the dream as to what they represent personally can help in finding what the dream means. Reoccurring dreams are of even greater significance, & hold special importance. I also think that dreams are a release of "negative" or emotional feelings which cannot be easily expressed while waking, a release valve for things. Also I do think that there is an aspect of the psychic to dreams, when in the altered consciousness state of sleep, I do personally think that we are more sensitive & in tune to other realms & deeper spiritual aspects of reality. I think it possible that dreams can incorporate ESP communication, & contact with the spiritual, especially with lucid dreaming & astral projection. But these ideas are controversial.
