CAMHS team - seeing your notes

Getting Comfy Posts: 19 (09/12/06 11:08 PM) Getting Comfy Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Report Post	I was wondering if anyone here seen the CAMHS (child and adolecent mental health service) team at any point in their life and if you have, have you ever obtained a copy of you file/notes?? I'm 20 now and seen them for about 2 years until I was 18 and I'm now wondering if its possible to get a copy of my notes. I heard from one person that they keep your file until your 25 and then they get destroyed. Anyone know anything about this? I really hope I can get a copy of them.

Generally, although the public do have access to their medical records, it's not just a case of walking in off the street and picking them up. for general notes, you have to go through your lawyer and have a good reason for wanting to see them, curiousity doesn't quite cover it unfortunatly! But it may be different with mental health records, especially for under 18s. Your best bet would be to give the team's office a call and ask about it. they'll be able to tell you what you can do. Em Maybe i'm just scared to face the things i fear. It's easier to walk away from everything

In other words, the get out clause!
