I'm fed up with thed awful services they olffer, wish they'd close the ones in my area down completrely, then they couldn't claim to be offering anything.
I would like a bit of practical things, though due to my difficulties, someone to help with the shopping, to go with me to the dr, in some ways a personal assistant. What i don't want is these mental health places were the asumption is you've got learning difficulties with activities to suit, it may suit some but i totally hate day centres like that, i can get cheap books 2nd hand on e bay and read them instead These one size fits all services make me think one size fits all the workers there, the dole queue |

Your describing a befriender. I have trained as one. Have you enquired if there are any local charities in your area that run a befriending scheme?
Regards,

I had a mind befriender for a while, as the women upstairs said "They're mentally ill themselves, thats why they do it" he was patronising and it seemed tgo me he was building himself up by putting me down.
Having said that he was useful I'd rather i could just get better enough to form my own relationships without having to worry about the benefit people pulling the plug |

Your not stuck with your befriender, you could have asked to change him. Well, you can where I was one.

I could change my befriender, yes to someone with the same attitude.
Recently mind suggested i become a volunteer as i said there are more violunteers than bona fide loonies at Brent Mind My friend absolutely hates mind volunteeers, one of them was patronising her so she put her arm through a glass door and got sectioned |

Freedom of choice, some have the freedom to choose between buying the swimming pool and the yacht, others choose between heating and food
