I know there are many people with many different conditions and I'm sorry I couldn't fit them all in, in the Poll. I have Borderline Personality Disorder. I was diagnosed when I was 20 years old (I'm 23 now) and I still managed to make my old Psychiatrist doubt whether it was the right diagnosis as she thought on many occasions that I might have Schizo-Affective Disorder. But everyone seems to have stuck on Borderline Personality Disorder. Martin What Planet is that guy from and what did he do with Clark? http://myvoodoochild.livejournal.com/

Dont ya wish your boyfriend was mad like me. If there's a smile on my face, its only there trying to fool the public...Dont let my glad expression, give you the wrong impression. Now there's some sad things known to man, but there aint too much sader than - The Tears of a Clown...When there's no one around.

Although I don't tell her everything......I guess if I did I'd probably be under depression or something like that. Out to Save The World!

But I find it hard to talk to my Dr about my Mental Health as it seems he is only willing to help with so much. It's like he can't deal with it. Mad&Loving It Posts: 1708 (23/10/06 8:17 PM) Psychotic & Proud Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Report Post	mine's schizoaffective disorder (a mix of schizophrenia and manic depression). borderline personality disorder is still a footnote in my files (altho these days it has a question mark on it which means they're querying ti). i had it removed a few years back when i had a second opinion, but it reappeared on my notes after i was admitted to hosp for a few weeks when i was grieving and suicidal .... i guess they couldn't fit grief into a diagnostic category) others i've had include: depressive personality disorder (mentioned by a psychologist years ago ... the most ridiculous of the bunch as i'm naturally quite an upbeat person!), psychotic illness, schizophrenia, psychotic depression, depression & anxiety, manic depressive psychosis has been mentioned too. i also pull out my hair still (tho not on my head), so i have trichotillomania - altho the services don't know about this cus i don't need any more diagnoses and it's way better than cutting which is what i used to do. all this kinda makes me thing that diagnoses are a bit silly. they depend so much on the person that's diagnosing you, and not as much on you. i prefer to think about it in terms of symptoms. these can change, and are also a more accurate description of the problems i'm facing. a broad diagnostic category doesn't say much cus there's a huge range of feelings/experiences that fit within them. no two people with depression are the same. the same of people with bpd, bipolar or schizophrenia. there are similarities, yes, but also differences. i experience psychosis. i experience lows, i experience highs, i experience anxiety, i experience self harm, i have had some traumas, i am grieving etc etc etc. schizoaffective disorder doesn't say as much as that does Martin - have you asked for a second opinion. that really helped me - got a fresh unbaised pair of specialist eyes on the situation. eyes that were in a better position to listen to me and make a more accurate assessment. BPD tends to cloud doctors eyes and sometimes they stop listening properly too. xxx Rai

Out to Save The World!

Not sure what the technical term is for that! This confused me after the self harming, suicide notes, running away from home and being brought back by the police, alcoholism, mood swings and violent temper.

Mad&Loving It Posts: 930 (06/03/07 4:34 PM) Mad&Loving It Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Report Post	I have had a few different ones, when i was first diagnosed in 1999, after i broke down at work i was told i had PTSD, then clincial deppression, around 2000 i was diagnosed with Bordlerlien Personality disorder, and from then on that was my main diagnosis, the PTSD isnt in my notes now as a diagnosis, so that must have dissapeared sometime in between, the depprssion was removed around 2005 apparently, and the BPD diagnosis was removed by my ex physke in april last year, and as of last thursday, april 1st i am discharged from mental health services, diagnosis free, and there is a footnote in my medical records that says the past 18 months or so i have been episode free, and i am now ok, with no mental illness. so i guess its taken eight years of offical diagnosis, and another four years or so selfharming before then, to get to this point. Cant believe it still, but its all good. Adam.

They started to test for brain damage to see if that was why I had so many problems (because in addition to psych probs I have seizures and that's weird I guess) but the insurance company stopped the tests. --------------------------------------------------- You can't take the skies from me

Let me think.....severe depression, treatment resistant depression, anorexia nervosa, atypical anorexia nervosa, OCD, selective mutisim, some traits of autism (don't know where they got that one from!)....actually loking at te list, it's not as many as I thought, but basically I'm in recovery from anorexia nervosa and depression Claire

To be honest I don't think Psychiatrists have got a Fcking clue. I think drugs caused or exasperated allot my "condition". I would also think that there is a spiritual component to the illness. Depression, Schizophrenia, Schizo-Affective Disorder, Anxiety, Borderline Personality Disorder. They've stuck with Borderline Personality Disorder and Depression which I swear is only because Personality Disorders are a 'one size fits all diagnosis'. Well, that's my thinking anyway.
