When is too much too much? |

I am about to take my driving test on Friday. I went to a wildlife project for the first time on Sunday, and spent nearly 6 hours cutting down Sycamore, I am due to start a maths course on the 12th September, and I'm due to sign up for the European Computer Driving License course soon. I go to two groups, a drop in centre, and I'm going to a open day for Police special volunteers on Monday as part of a back to work scheme. Also I'm changing over from one tranquilizer to another. Oh, and I've started going to church, been going for about 3 weeks. Am I doing too much?
Regards,

Hi Blue - my immediate thoughts on above question were:
Do you feel like it is too much for you? Because if you are starting to get that 'it's all backing up on me' feeling, and starting to dread this or that commitment, that is a sign that it's too much for you. It may not be the same as what someone else can do, or it may be more. Whatever, you need to strike the balance that does the most good for your mental health, not on expectations that may not be realistic... Is my based-on-hard-experience, anyway! |

Sometimes being busy can be good, sometimes even one small activity can be too much. I agree you are the expert in what is good for you. Trust your instincts.

I can't do nothing, I would just sit obsessing about the past abuse and how awful I feel, so I have to do things. I am going to cut out church for now. The groups are supportive, the drop in centre is a vital lifeline, and I'll see how the courses go. The back to work thing is something I need to try, that will make real changes.

Glad you have sorted that out . I think writing stuff down like this can really help the process of a new direction and decision making. I need to do it more myself!!

Your trying, i went through a period of getting better before i ended up feeling the system was encouraging recovery in order to save limited resources, all said theres nothing wrong with that, resources are limited, i just now want more contentment than anything else
